Will I need to move out when you build my addition?

We can schedule our work so that we avoid breaking the exterior of your home for as long as possible. This way the mess and noise won't be inside of your home. Once we break your exterior wall, depending on your home, you may want to vacate the premises until we have completed our work. We will do everything we can, with plastic sheeting, for example, to ensure that your home won't suffer from the dust and mess.

How long does it take to add a new addition to a home?

Once permitting is complete and contracts are signed, adding an addition, depending on complexity can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months. This would include the laying of a foundation, building walls & roof, installing electrical, plumbing and heating, and completing the finishing touches like sheetrock, floors and paint. We will provide you with a complete project schedule before we begin work.

Do you work on a fixed bid or time and materials?

Jobs vary. Some clients prefer the predictability of a fixed bid. Some clients prefer the speed of a time and materials contract. Both approaches have their advantages and disadvantages and we will be happy to work with you to make sure you have a contract that works for you.

How much does a new kitchen or bathroom cost?

Unfortunately, it is impossible to provide a reasonable estimate without first scoping out the work first. Do you want to replace the floors? Will there be new appliances? Will electrical need to be rewired? Will plumbing need to be moved? Are walls being moved? After a short meeting with you I can begin to size up your needs and provide some rough ballpark numbers.

My Eichler's radiant heat doesn't work... what can I do?

At this point, probably half of all Eichler homes have had their radiant heat fail. You are not alone. Your choices are either a) repair it, which I would not recommend, b) float a new floor with thin radiant heating elements, which is a great idea, c) install an alternative system, like forced air or baseboard heating. Give me a call and I can come out and discuss your best options.
